A Picnic For a Patriot, an event honoring Wilkes-Barre native Dave Morgan, will be held Saturday, Aug 28, beginning at 11 a.m., at the Wilkes-Barre Twp. Firehall. Morgan, while serving his second deployment, was seriously injured in a vehicle accident in Kuwait last November. The driver of Morgan’s vehicle, Brian Patton of Nanticoke, was killed.
Dave’s traumatic event consisted of him trapped under a vehicle for forty five minutes before being freed. He was treated and flew to Germany where he began immediate life saving care.
Morgan suffered a traumatic brain injury, which has affected his ability to perform daily tasks. Morgan, a G.A.R. High School graduate and corrections officer at State Correctional Facility in Dallas, is a father of four-year-old Ariana.
The picnic will feature six local bands, a DJ, food, drinks and games of chance for a $20 donation. Children 15 and under will be allowed in for free.
